Despite continuing improvements in safety standards and practices over the years in academic and industrial research laboratories, accidents, injuries and even death still occur with alarming frequency. This presentation will discuss several prominent accidents that have made headlines in recent years, discuss lessons learned and review key elements of the OSHA Lab Standards that regulate many of the hazardous operations and conditions commonly encountered in the modern chemical research laboratory.
